Eriksen returns to action at Inter Milan after recovering from cardiac arrest

Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest while playing for Denmark at Euro 2020

Christian Eriksen has returned to the Inter Milan training ground for the first time since suffering a cardiac arrest at the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship. Eriksen, 29, collapsed on the pitch during Denmark's match against Finland on June 12 and had to be resuscitated. He was then fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), which is a device that can deliver a shock to the heart if it stops beating normally. Eriksen has been training with the Danish club Odense Boldklub, where he played as a youth footballer, since January. He has not played a competitive match since his cardiac arrest, but he is expected to return to action for Inter Milan in the coming weeks. Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi said Eriksen's return to training was a "great moment" for the club. "We are all very happy to see him back on the pitch," Inzaghi said. "He is a great player and a great person, and we are all behind him." Eriksen's return to training is a major boost for Inter Milan, who are currently top of the Serie A standings. The Danish midfielder is a key player for Inter, and his return will give the team a big boost in their quest for the title.
