Bayern Munich 5-1 Wolfsburg: Robert Lewandowski scores five goals in nine minutes

Bayern forward breaks record for fastest five-goal haul in Bundesliga history

Robert Lewandowski scored five goals in nine minutes as Bayern Munich thrashed Wolfsburg 5-1 on Wednesday to move top of the Bundesliga table.

The Poland international netted his five goals between the 51st and 60th minutes, breaking the record for the fastest five-goal haul in Bundesliga history.

Lewandowski's goals came after Wolfsburg had taken the lead through Daniel Didavi in the first half.

The win moves Bayern top of the table, one point ahead of Borussia Dortmund, who beat Stuttgart 3-1 on Tuesday.

Lewandowski's performance was the latest in a string of impressive displays from the striker, who has now scored 11 goals in his last six games for Bayern.

The 27-year-old is now the Bundesliga's leading scorer this season, with 13 goals in nine games.

Bayern's win will be a major boost to their confidence ahead of their Champions League match against Arsenal next week.

The German champions will be looking to avenge their 2-0 defeat to the Gunners in the first leg of their last-16 tie.

Lewandowski's goalscoring form will give Bayern fans hope that they can overturn the deficit and progress to the quarter-finals.
